At his core, Dante is a liar. He struggles with being open and honest with others. Deception keeps others from seeing all his flaws. His seemingly eternal optimism is often a facade used to ease others. He has become extremely skill at portraying the exact opposite of what he's feeling, to the point where he convinces most. He exudes confidence despite his insecurities, and can pull of the most convincing of smiles in the most crippling of sadness. This isn't just an act he puts on with strangers, he lies to everyone. Any qualms his had about lying to those close to him only ever seem to crop up after he's done lying. He tries to project a fake version of himself, one without personality flaws, one that everyone can aspire to, in order to hide himself and, in a sense, make up for his physical flaws. He will do everything in his power to maintain this front.
Dante surrounds himself with "fake" friends, people who think they know him, but in reality have just bought into the persona he sells everyone. His opinion of these people is of little importance. To Dante, its all about what they think of him.
First impressions of Dante are usually positive. He will help out strangers to make a good impression and almost always comes off as sociable. One thing that's not a lie is that he has genuinely good social skills, and can be charming and supportive when necessary. He has shown to have a good understanding of what most people want and need from their interactions with others, and has success in providing a shoulder to cry on. There is a part of him who enjoys using his social skills to manipulate those he talks to, in order to know more about them, regardless of whether or not if he's actually interested in them.
He's also very industrious, much to the delight of the faculty. He'll feign enthusiasm, pretending to enjoy all the work he does, when in reality he does it so that he can get ahead. He likes to be praised and he enjoys the reputation of being reliable. This quest for praise combined with his high intelligence results in Dante being one of the top students in the school.
Dante seems to have endless patience and restraint. Almost everyone that knows him has never seen him angry. Of course he feels anger just like anyone else, if not more often, but his level headed nature and the fact that he never lets himself act upon impulse, work alongside his patience to create a man who doesn't seem to crack.
He is a very jealous individual, not that he lets it on. Jealousy is one of his key motivators. It pushes him to surpass others, but it also reminds him of his shortcomings, which angers him. He is usually jealous primarily of people that he can see himself in. Relationships and social standing are the primary things he realizes he gets jealous over. However the one thing he can't even admit to himself is that he's jealous of those who are in great physical condition, because despite any and all effort, he'll never reach such standards.
With all this in mind, it is important to note that Dante rarely ever wants to hurt others. His constant lying is always for his own sake, and is never done with malicious intentions. He wants to be a good person, but he's also obsessed with the acceptance and admiration of those around him.

His dirty blonde hair falls to his ears, including his fringe, which is usually swept to one side, obscuring one of his light green eyes which seem oddly warm. Dante seems rather attractive when inspected only briefly. Indeed he cares greatly for his presentation and puts great time into it, though he has shortcomings that he can do little about.
Dante is a heavily damaged individual. He is an amputee, wearing a prosthetic lower right arm, and bearing a large amount of scarring upon his back and right leg. Injuries to which cause him to have a serious limp, and to require a cane to support himself. Of course all of this is kept hidden by his choice of clothing. He almost always wears gloves to hide his missing hand. Along with this, Dante wears a lot of formal clothing when given the opportunity, especially waistcoats and ties.

Dante's parents spent most of their life in the Italian Peninsula, and lived through many of various different states that governed it. Dante was born in a very rural area in the south, within a large community of dragons. He spent almost half of his life there, before moving to the United states. He moved after being attacked by a wandering demon. Very little is known about the circumstances of the attack as Dante had wandered off from his family and own recollection is to this day still a blur. The demon was killed by his father in anger, which in turn fueled the move abroad. The attack had left Dante heavily maimed down his right side. He was missing half his arm and his leg became unable to function properly causing a large limp. His family tried all methods of healing known to the magical races, but nothing could be done about his wounds.
Of course the damage was more than just physical. Dante became extremely anti-social, preferring to stay at home, and driven by fear. It also left him with a fear of demons, which existed until his first year of school, when his stereotypes of demons came face to face to the more complex reality. The result of the attack also left him with serious self confidence issues regarding his physical appearance and capabilities. He could no longer do some of the things he used to, and simple tasks like walking up stairs became difficult. The limitations of his crippled body only served to restrict him and make others pity him, which only annoyed and frustrated Dante. He didn't want to be seen as inferior or incapable, in fact he wanted the opposite. He wanted to be the person others aspired to be. He wanted others to be jealous of him.
This would shape his very personality and behavior. He strove to push for excellence in everything aspect of life, to make up for his shortcomings.
