MAPS CAN BE POEMS WHEN YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN | If there was one thing Maiya couldn't get enough of during her off time it was singing. It didn't matter where she sang, the train station, the street corner, in front of shops, or the park just so long as she got to belt it for the world to hear and that was exactly what she was doing as she walked through central park.
There was no denying the woman had a voice, damn did she, and with her abilities as a phoenix no one in the near vicinity seemed to mind her singing one bit. Oh no, if anything the area around her seemed to grow a bit calmer as her voice rang out. Perhaps she was enjoying herself a little too much this evening.
Every song had its end however and Maiya eventually found the end of her's. That was alright though, she could always just start another... perhaps she would. Which song though? That was the real question. Perhaps a strangler could help her decide...
Maiya's took to her telepathy, looking for someone that had a song stuck in their head, some tune for her to sing. Ah there, perfect.
Once again she sang it out for the world to hear. |

Another promise , another seed Another packaged lie to keep us trapped in greed And all the green belts wrapped around our minds endless red tape to keep the truth confined They will not force us They will stop degrading us They will not control us We will be victorious Strictly speaking, Ju-Long was supposed to be grading a couple of assignments right now or planning next week's lessons, not slacking off by taking a stroll through the park. Honestly speaking, he couldn't really make himself care about it at the moment. The weather was rather pleasant, the apple he was munching on tasted just right and the jaunty tune that he was humming under his breath all left him in a mood far too good to waste on endless paperwork. He'd make it up later, the dragon vowed in the tradition of procrastinators everywhere. Even as he made this mental declaration, his attention was suddenly seized by a song, drifting through the air. There was a singer about nearby, and a good one at that. Intrigued, Ju made his way over to the source of the voice, even as the song ended and another one began. He recognized that song, it was the same one he had been humming (a bit out of tune) just now. "Hello there." he greeted, as he finally neared the singer. There was something about her that seemed a bit familiar to Ju, now that he took a closer look. Something about her appearance coupled with her voice... "Sorry to bother you, but you looked familiar- do I know you from anywhere by chance?"MADE BY VEL OF GS

MAPS CAN BE POEMS WHEN YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN | Maiya often got lost in her singing, it was something she just enjoyed so thoroughly the rest of the world seemed to slip away for a few moments. The man's greeting however, brought her back into reality. "Hm?" not much of a hello but then again she hadn't really been paying attention, not until he questioned her at least. She stepped back to look the man over, trying to place him. She saw a lot of faces in her work place, people came and went through the bar all the time. It wasn't the work place though, there was a nagging familiarity to his face even though she couldn't quite recall why. It was like a little voice in the back of her head knew who he was and how they knew each other but wanted to keep it all a secret. "We might, are you a drinker? I work as a bartender and I see a lot of faces every night." She hoped he had a better idea than she did, or perhaps it was just a case of mistaken identity, that happened in cities from time to time too. Ju-Long |

Another promise , another seed Another packaged lie to keep us trapped in greed And all the green belts wrapped around our minds endless red tape to keep the truth confined They will not force us They will stop degrading us They will not control us We will be victorious She seemed a bit out of it, and for a moment Ju felt a tinge of guilt for disturbing her when she had so obviously been engrossed in her singing. Moreover, she didn't really seem to reciprocate the déjà vu he was currently feeling upon meeting her. Perhaps this was a case of mistaken identity? It was not unthinkable, after all the dragon had met a lot of people during the course of his travels and similarities were bound to occur here and there. "Hmm, I haven't gone drinking in a while, but you might be right." he answered, even though he doubted it. Even as he thought about it, the feeling of familiarity began to crystallize into something much clearer. Faint memories of an old companion were taken off the metaphorical shelf, dusted, and similarities between the his memories and the person in front of him were noted. Could it be? "You remind me of a friend of mine though. We met a while back and traveled together for a bit?" Ju probed cautiously. "A wonderful bird with a fiery personality..." Okay, now that was just pushing it. "I'm Ju by the way, Ju-Long."MADE BY VEL OF GS

MAPS CAN BE POEMS WHEN YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN | Maiya paid close attention as the man spoke, studying his features for something that might catch on a memory and take hold. His face, his voice, the way he spoke, there was something eerily familiar here. Something she knew she had encountered once upon a time. It formed ever so slightly in her mind, the memory of a man who she hadn't simply passed by and moved on from, but rather someone that she had kept around for awhile. Ah, but that was such a silly notion, or so she thought, until he happened to mention something about a bird with a fiery personality. That comment was a little too spot on for them to not know each other. There was a spark of recognition in her eyes as she searched for exactly who she was talking to, his name making the picture in her mind focus just a bit more. "The Name's Maiya, still not sure I know you but I'm sure whoever this bird friend of your's was, they must have really enjoyed having a go-getting dragon like yourself for a friend." she blurted it out without thinking, like it was a natural response to the guy, just like the grin that spread across her face as she said it. She knew him alright, but she wanted his response before she said too much more. The puzzle was coming together though, even if there were still pieces missing. Ju-Long |

"All right, you haven't managed to forget me after all!" the dragon replied enthusiastically, a wide grin splitting his face as he forged on enthusiastically. "I wouldn't have blamed you if you had, to be honest, it took me a while to recognize you too. After all it's been-" how long had it been? A long while, for sure, but Ju had stopped counting years a while back so it was a bit hard to say for certain. "-it's been an age!" he concluded, not missing a beat. "I've been to so many new places, tried so many different things since we parted ways- we should definitely catch up!" Ju suggested. "Are you up for it?"MAIYA THOMPSON | sorry for delay in replying, exams ^^;. feel free to take lead in making up history b/w these two MADE BY VEL OF GS

MAPS CAN BE POEMS WHEN YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN | Maiya couldn't help but chuckle. The happy enthusiasm was so familiar it alone was enough to bring about the happy little giggle. "I suppose I didn't, bit fuzzy though. Things... happened since we met. That's for sure." She couldn't remember exactly still, some man had wanted her dead, she remembered that much and the whole ordeal still befuddled her. That was a story for another time though. She shook her head at him, still grinning. "Oh I think it's been, what? At least a few decades since we met last?" it really could be a pain not clearly remembering things. "We'll figure that out later though." "How could I say no to that?" A memory sparked though, just a glimpse of something. "I do remember us being in some city streets though, food vendor, damn good food too." perhaps that had been how they met, she couldn't be sure, but it was enough to solidify that they'd been friends once upon a time. "Maybe we should grab a bite to eat and chat awhile." Ju-Long not a problem, i don't really expect anyone to be super on top of posts during exams lol |
