[ABILITIES]
• healing touch: the ability to heal wounds from touch and sharing your own energy with another to heal minor wounds.
• lie detector: the ability to tell when one is telling a lie
[PERSONALITY]
As a whole, Avery can be described as a very quiet yet kind person. They strive to treat each and every person they meet with the same level of respect and dignity despite the way the person may look or act. They enjoy helping others even if it's at the expense of their own time and resources. Despite their kindness, it can't be denied that it gets in the way of a few things from time to time. Reserved and quiet, it isn't uncommon to see them getting pushed around and taken advantage of from time to time. Yet as nice as they can be, it can't be exactly said that they're the nicest person on the planet.
It isn't difficult to notice that Avery hides their many internal struggles from the world. Confused as to what they truly believe in, they often switch between temperaments. Sometimes they're warm and inviting, yet other times are aloof and cold. While they may be always willing to lend a listening ear to others, they themselves hold back from opening up almost to the point that it's detrimental to their emotional health. Still, they aren't the type to let their feelings dictate their actions. Traditional to their core, Avery strives to uphold divine morals even if they feel the opposite to be truly right. They're precious wings are already tinged gray. They can't afford for them to become any darker.

[APPEARANCE]
As per their heritage as an angel, perhaps the thing that stands out the most about Avery is their very tidy appearance. From their carefully manicured fingernails to perfectly combed hairstyle, everything about them speaks sophistication. Though usually completely clothed from head to toe for the most part, continually running errands for heaven in the past rather filled out their previously lanky build. And thus standing at 5'11", they currently weigh 180 lbs. Though they usually try to hide their wings under their clothes or through divine means, they are tinged gray at the ends. Though it sometimes seems that the color is traveling up as time passes on.
When it comes to their style of dress, Avery usually opts for more formal clothing being that of dress shirts and slacks. It's not that they dislike dressing down for occasions, they simply can't. After centuries of being a stickler for divine rules, they became used to dressing the way they do and can't change even if they wanted to. If asked for their opinion on the matter though, they really don't mind their fashion style much. As far as they're concerned, they're rather pleased with the way they look.

[HISTORY]
Avery couldn't remember the exact day they came into existence as an angel. They simply just... came to be. Not that it bothered them, they supposed. Who needed much individual thought when they were doing the work of God? They were not meant to question, but simply to do. Besides, there weren't many brave enough to defy the Almighty. They were meant to be chaste and morally clean and their pure white wings were supposed to be proof of that. The thought of being tainted gray was horrifying. Thankfully for much of their earlier years, they were a very faithful angel. For their obedience, Avery quickly moved up in ranks. As far as they were concerned, they were happy.
It was one day when carrying out one of the many wills of God that Avery caught sight of an infant lying in a pile of ashes. It was not difficult to deduce that the child was not a human but a phoenix instead. At first, Avery thought nothing much of the child and wanted to go about their business. Angels really didn't have many dealings with the other races of the world, after all. Humans were their main focus for the most part. But as the clouds began to darken, their conscience started to nag at them. A phoenix was a creature of fire. Simply leaving one defenseless would be cruel. Certainly God would not approve, right? And thus after taking the child into their arms, Avery took them to the safest place they could find, choosing to wait in watch until they knew the baby was in caring protection. Yet in retrospect, perhaps it would have been better had Avery chosen not to do anything.
At first it was easy to deny it. They weren't taking jobs in the area of Western Europe for any ulterior motive. It just sounded logical. And it was just by chance that those jobs made it easier to check on the phoenix child, not that Avery was actively seeking the child out. Could anyone really blame them? They practically saved the baby, after all. How could they possibly not feel the slightest bit of responsibility over the phoenix? And so it continued for a few of the phoenix's lifetimes. As time passed on, though, curiosity slowly began to get the better of Avery. Each one of the phoenix's lives were different and no personality was the same, but the angel found themselves drawn to him like moth to a flame. They knew it to be wrong to meddle in the affairs of one not related to their work at all, but would it really so bad to interact with the phoenix at least once?
The first time Avery interacted with him, they took the form of a neighbor. The fourth time a teacher. The sixth time a close friend. Each time they'd vow to cut ties with the phoenix, but their interactions only drew them closer to the point they couldn't keep themselves too far from the phoenix even if they tried. It became so bad to the point they actually began to start questioning the Creator himself. Interacting with humans on a regular basis instilled worldly values into Avery and it was quickly beginning to show.
It all culminated suddenly during the phoenix's previous life that threw Avery into a confused mess. In an instant, the phoenix was disappeared and they were demoted to a soul collecting angel. It took a few years to recover, but once they had, Avery once again vowed to keep to themselves as best as they could. And they did well for the most part. Though they were still nearby to make sure nothing exactly bad happened to the phoenix, they kept their distance and tried to be satisfied with it... until the phoenix, now going as Calisto, found Avery on his own. And hell, they really should have left, but with Calisto confused in regards his heritage as he was, Avery simply could not leave him to fend for himself.
