UNICORNS
The term "unicorn" is a bit of a misnomer, and disregards supernatural equines beyond the western world. Although common, not all have protruding horns, and some may have more than one. Most notably, they are known for their eternal youth, and do not ever appear older than 30 years of age. However, it is rare to meet a unicorn in person -- especially an old one -- due to their unique blood, which may extend the natural lifespan (though not indefinitely) of any individual who consumes it. They were nearly wiped out during the Medieval ages for this morbid elixir, and, since they are only capable of procreating with their own kind, their numbers have remained low. Still, they are respected for their affinity for magical healing by those who do not wish them harm. [TYPES - required] winged horse - Like the Pegasus of Greek myth, these equines are born with large wings sprouting from their sides waterhorse - Aquatic equines. They have gills, and may have fishlike tails like a hippocampus, or appear relatively normal, like a kelpie. western unicorn - The stereotypical European unicorn. All have at least one prominent horn atop their head. kirin - A unicorn typically found in Asia. They have scales and a head which usually resembles a dragon more than a horse. nightmare - Horses with a dark, smoky (quite literally) coat. NORMAL ABILITIES • healing touch: the ability to heal wounds from touch and sharing your own energy with another to heal minor wounds. • calming presence: the ability to ease those around them to calm nerves just by one's presence. • superior speed: self explanatory • gender ambiguity: the ability to physically switch from male, to female, to anything in between • flight: the ability to fly, regardless of form [exclusive to winged horse] • water breathing: the ability to breathe underwater without consequence [exclusive to waterhorse] • regeneration: non-magical wounds close quicker [exclusive to western unicorn] • fire manipulation: conjure and manipulate fire [exclusive to kirin] • dream seer: the ability to sense and transverse into others dreams. the user doesn't have much effect on the target's dream, but does have slight control and can force the user to wake up by convincing them its a dream. [exclusive to nightmare] PURCHASABLE ABILITIES • empathy: the ability to sense another's emotions by touch, or being in close proximity of another user if the emotion is strong. the user also has the ability to slightly shift the emotions of the target, but this can only be used by touch. • soul link: the ability to temporarily bind the caster's soul with another. this forms a telepathic link, but additionally conveys emotion and sensation. half of the damage done to either individual will be passed on to the other instead • guarded mind: strong protection from mind-altering or mind-detecting abilities. This includes emotion-based powers. • manipulation: the ability to conjure and manipulate one of the following elements: earth, water, air, or light. [may be bought multiple times for multiple elements] • warding magic: the ability to create barriers which protect from certain types of energy. the use of drawn-out runes can create long-lasting barriers • healing magic: the ability to heal injuries and sicknesses through physical contact. healing critical wounds will severely drain the caster and cause a large fraction of what they're healing to be transferred to themselves |
