PERSONAL
▼
[ABILITIES]
• durability: makes the user harder to harm physically
• lie detector: the ability to tell when one is telling a lie
[PERSONALITY]
Rowan is a rather peculiar individual, but he's probably one of the most kindhearted people that a person would have the pleasure of meeting. He's sort of newer to this whole interacting with people so if he does something to mess up, feel free to let him know so he can fix that behavior. Overall he's rather curious, and going hand in hand with that is a rather attentive approach to things. Even the dullest things catch his attention. The simpler, the better at times. It's rather cute if people have the patience for it. Speaking of which, he's got the patience of a saint. Rowan's never had the need to rush so he doesn't wish to put the same pressure on others. Better to take one's time and do something properly than mess up royally, right? Of course.
He's honest to a fault. It's virtually impossible for him to tell a lie, as he's always got some sort of tell. Either that or he blurts out the truth after silence and fidgetting. So don't go telling him too many personal secrets if one can help it. Or have him promise not to tell, either works. Rowan's a fairly social person, but modern day lingo certainly sends him through a loop. Often times he'll try to throw something in to spice up his speech patterns but often times it's used improperly. So please forgive him if he says that someone's grandma's funeral was, "dope." Poor guy's honestly trying to learn and understand modern day slang and use it properly. But his interest in pop culture and attempt to study it bit by bit is really helping. At least he's got a "modern day" teenager look going on.
The only real trouble with Rowan is how gullible he is. For the most part he doesn't understand sarcasm so don't be surprised if he actually believes someone when they say something. He's also pretty loud too. Like no volume control at all. So it would be no surprise if he began to grit at someone's nerves after a while. He means well, he honestly does. But if he's too loud or over dramatic, just point it out and he'll do his best to dial it down a notch or two. After all, he's just getting in a trial run with how to interact with living beings so there's no surprise he might mess up every now and again, but as long as people know he's putting forth a conscious effort, then it won't be too bad. ...Hopefully. Even if he's extremely outlandish and awkward, he's not a bad guy at all.

The looks

[APPEARANCE]
Everything about Rowan seems to be somewhat modern. Probably not what most would call a proper modern but modern nonetheless. While his hair is originally blonde, he's chosen to go to hair dye and change it to a blue, leaving a strip of his natural hair color in check because it, "looks cooler that way." His hair's also sort of got an undercut in the back going on. Then to top it off, his right ear has about 6 piercings in all, one in the lobe and five in the cartilage -- the lobe being a sterling silver ball, three in the cartilage being sterling silver rings, then the other two being diamond studs. And he's also got a nose piercing on the right side, it too being another ring. That one happens to be fake though because he saw someone else get a nose piercing at some point, watching them cry, and chose to avoid that pain. The piercings themselves aren't too distracting, but Rowan does habitually play with them.
The rest of his face though is pretty normal. A fox like face with thin blonde eyebrows, bright white teeth usually hidden behind his upwardly curled thin lips, and small upturned nose. His eyes are green, almost a seafoam shade. His vision's pretty decent though, measuring about 20/20. So he doesn't have to worry about glasses, at least. That doesn't stop him from wearing the fake kind that people could find at chic stores though. Other than that, he stands at about 5'9", weighs 147 pounds with a slender yet toned form, and has silver wings that stretch to the same wingspan is outstretched arms give off.
His clothing style is pretty straightforward -- whatever feels comfy. And he usually wears a white dress shirt of sorts with a tie and sweater over it, and trousers to match, depending what color the sweater for the day his he chooses. At least he can dress accordingly though, which isn't too bad at all.

THE PAST

[HISTORY]
It was around the start of the black plague in Europe in the period of time that Rowan existed. Or well, when Rowan should have existed. His mother fell victim nearly a month before he was expected. And while doctors attempted to extract him, it was too late. He never had a taste of humanity, and was sent back to Heaven as a pure creature. Such was only suspected, as he couldn't have done anything to earn damnation. He wasn't afraid of death though, probably because he didn't understand what it implied, but it was okay, he went with an open mind and open heart. And in turn, he was accepted into the gates with no issue whatsoever. Truly though, Heaven wasn't all that bad. Nothing like the ideal of streets being lined with gold, it was really just whatever people imagined it to be. What people wanted it to be, it was.
Rowan didn't understand why a few of the souls looked so lost when arriving at the gates. It was simple really, they understood humanity and knew what they were leaving behind upon death. And while he asked why those who missed their life on Earth had to die, he was scolded accordingly. "Do not go against His divine will." But in his afterlife, he watched everything unfold. There was war, famine, violence, so many bad things down on Earth. Why did people miss their humanity so much? They had whatever they could wish for up in Heaven. But he couldn't help himself, and at one time sneaked along with one of the soul collectors to see what was so special about the life down below. It was a bad idea but curiosity had got the better of him, and no one wanted to give him straightforward answers, so he'd get them on his own.
He was caught quickly by the angel he chose to follow and was sent right back up. And in turn, he was punished accordingly. If he wanted to go down to Earth so bad, then it would be his job to collect souls down below so they could be brought up for judgment. Not that he viewed it as much of a punishment but he knew well that he was no longer what most would deem a pure angel. He had succumed to curiosity and it did not favor well. But in the meantime, he was able to amuse himself. He'd traverse to Earth every now and again to learn little things here and there. And when he had to take someone with him to the other side? Well it simply baffled him how people seemed so devastated that they were weeping. They should be happy, it was so much better on the other side. Well if they went to the right place.
Years passed and humanity became a far more curious thing to the angel than he expected. Humans and creatures alike advanced on their own. Whether it be through warfare or peace, they found a way to get stronger and gain more territory. Some explored, others made theories. But in the end, they still found their way forward. He'd had the pleasure of taking some various influential figures to the other side and often got into conversations with them. A lot of them were surprisingly reasonable folks. Talking with the recently deceased was his most favorite part of the job, they had so much to tell about life down below. But he was warned to take their words with a grain of salt. That much he did, but it didn't stop him from wanting to at least get a taste of humanity.
It wasn't until just recently that he was given the opportunity. He'd begged to at least try and swore that he'd do well. His conversations with taking souls at least helped him get an understanding on modern day language. And even one of the people he helped send off had been gracious enough to point him towards someone who could help him out. Upon being offered the okay to go ahead and at least attempt to see what humanity was like, he was placed on Earth under the care of a trusted figure. Once the paperwork and everything was filled out and accepted, he made his way to the academy, eager to start learning on his own.
