It always amazed her how places changed over time. New York was no exception having transformed drastically over the years. The last time she spent a lengthy time in this country was during its civil war. The buildings were towering. Vehicles replaced horses. The fashion was stare worthy at times.
True she had visited for less than a week during the 1920's over a mafia relations manner. But she hadn't really been able to take in the scenery last time. Her schedule had been too demanding. And though she had a busy dance card coming up due to hushed plans, she made sure to plan the transportation accordingly. The child wanted to see how this side of the world had changed.
Thus the peculiar scene of a nine year old strolling the sidewalks of downtown New York was occurring. |

Close your eyes give me your hand The nightlife of New York was amazing, though not as amazing as one would think while working but what if you worked in a place where the simplest of words made the average woman cringe with a smile. Here was Athrun in what he called his natural environment, offering his company to whomever paid for it though it came with its own fun. As he looked at the clock his eyes dulled for a moment as he walked his last client before smiling," See ya soon~," the coo in his voice was faked as if he could actually want to see someone such as this woman. She came every night just to see him, paid good money to have him all to herself and yet he grinned and smiled through it knowing that if he spoke his mind on her...habits he'd be out of a high paying client. His shift was finally over and as he left he stepped out into the cold New York air and sighed for a moment, letting the long dark blue hair fall to his back as the odd colored eyes searched around. Humans...Why did he have to blend in with them so well in order to survive? If he was back at home he would be under the company of vampires though being locked up in a dungeon was no better than this. The school was a seemingly better option that rotting in a dungeon for the rest of his unnatural life and at least here he wasn't looked down on by the aristocratic vampires back at the Hellscythe manor. Slowly he made his way down the street as he caught the eyes of certain on passers by the looks of his clothing. An open black shirt with black pants and matching shoes, the tattoos that covered his opened body made many of them whisper amongst themselves, but the scar that ran across his nose made them stop and point slightly. Anger was the first to rise though he knew that he couldn't make a scene amongst these most fragile of beings he simply turned to them and offered a grin," Keep your whispering to yourself as if can hold yourself on a higher pedestal than I...," waste of life and opportunity they were, and yet the were the best toys when it came down to it. Finding it better to walk through the back ways rather than the main street, Athrun turned down the corner of a dark alley where he continued to make his way towards his destination. Do you feel my heart beating?

The child sat upon a dumpster with her legs properly crossed. When she had originally decided to take the seat she had been sure to layout some newspaper underneath her bloomers to make sure there were no unpleasant stains to worry Mason with back at the suite. Thus she had front row seat to the scream fest that was unfolding on the third floor of the bricked apartment building. Glancing up with a similar facial expression as another might look up at the stars, Elsie watched the free show while being amused with how self destructive mankind was. "I saw the pictures on your phone, Lacie!" A shattering of something glass followed by a flurry of swear words erupted the night air. Els couldn't help but chuckle as the neighboring windows closed shut one by one, not wanting to hear the fight. Then came the thud coupled with the silenced cry. "There goes the first punch." Elsie whispered to herself, commenting on the display as one would a shooting star across a night sky.
Only the sound of steps picked up by her impressive hearing caused her to turn her head away. It was a man. At this time of night, dressed the way he was with the open shirt, Elsie could make a wild guess as to what he was up to. Every city across the world had their own version of a Red Light District. The world's oldest profession was alive and strong no matter where in the world you might go. Her aged experienced crimson eyes looked over the man as he grew nearer ... And a small smile grew.
"Hello." The simple greeting would be made with the playful child-like swinging of her mary janed feet. Another crash sounded from the window on the third floor, silencing whatever hushed plea was being uttered. The little girl however simply fluttered those big doe eyes at the newcomer. "Still working or are you off for the night?" |

Close your eyes give me your hand He had hoped nothing else would come to pass as he walked from his work through this alley to avoid the looks from the humans in the streets, though he could still hear his surroundings quite clearly. One of the many blessings or curses as he thought it be was the fact that he could still hear the subtle shifting of those outside of the alley and many that were in the subsiding areas. His eyes continued to shift from left to right before stopping and scratching the back of his head," Why do humans have to be so noisy...if they could only move in silence then I wouldn't have to hear them," even though with these senses he could hear the subtle beating of a heart as he worked. As he turned into a corner of the alley he could see it clearly, a figure on the dumpster staring into something in the distance. At first he wouldn't bother trying to see what this person was looking at yet he had to go through this area to get home. The voice which had finally been identified as a female spoke to him, the crimson eyes meeting her for a moment before looking around and smiling," Are you talking to me?," of course his question was soon answered as she asked was he off work. His smile turned into a grin as he leaned against one of the walls now determined to kill sometime unknown that he was speaking to another of his kind," I'm off work though I fail to see what manner of business that is to some small child. What are you doing out here in an alley of all places," the reds of his crimson eyes searching the female for something that made her stand out amongst the rest. It was a feeling he had been getting from her as his eyes slowly trailed from her to the window she had been looking at. He couldn't see anything from his angle though what she had been looking at had made him curious none the less. Do you feel my heart beating?

"Good." Elsie began, lacing her fingers and resting them upon her lap. Her eyes would drift downwards to her folded hands before continuing, "Then this conversation won't cost me anything for your time." The little girl's vocabulary and tone expanded into the realms of adulthood as if a switch had been flicked. It was still the audible sound of a child speaking. Higher tone. Cutesy clipping of words. But the content of the words that encompassed the stillness could understandably raise a few eyebrows.
Glancing at the man with own scarlet eyes, they remained locked onto the red pair staring back at her. And they did not bother to hide the fact that they were scanning him. Head to toe. This was not an average looking individual before her. The tattoos. The scars that went across his face and down his neck. The child's head tilted to the side slightly as she honed her impressive senses in to focus on him. His heart beat. His smell. She could pinpoint at least two different feminine perfumes before progressing in the conversation. "Ohhh, I've been enjoying the city scape."
Her eyes still scanned him as the woman's whimpering crescendoed before being silenced as the male component in the equation would close the window with a snap upon the third floor. "But I'm much more interested in you, lost one." The polite and cutesy smile shrunk to a smaller version as her thoughts continued. He was one of her chosen people. One of the blessed.
The studious meticulous stare of hers would finally raise back up to meet any gaze coming her way. "How ..." Elsie would pause a mere moment to think of the most appropriate wording, "... content are you with your current situation?" And the smile would widen to a degree that bordered on disturbing, "Sleeping with swine for currency, for instance." |

Close your eyes give me your hand His only response at the moment from her words had a been a simple raise of his brow as he delved deeper into the meaning of her words. From the way she spoke it carried a more adult tone than a child should have and her eyes gave that same older appearance that his gave to a select few and yet he couldn't put his finger on it. The only thing he could do was simply smile and hold up his index finger," My time always costs in one way or another, though I can easily offer a free exception if this captures my interest," still speaking like a professional in his own field, he slowly leaned against the cold wall of the alley. Though her eyes had been staring back into his, he had been searching for something...Something that wasn't supposed to be there. As her red hues stared into his it slowly clicked by the way she had been looking at him and the color of her eyes, but Athrun could not bother with mere assumptions. " Enjoying the city in an alley? I think you mean looking into the homes and affairs of these...easily swayed humans," it was true that he looked onto humans as nothing more than a child's plaything or his own amusement. They were so captivated by the laced words one could give them, and their tendency for violence matched his own. Lost one...The mere words caused him to drop his gaze from her and look to the window which snapped closed and the woman's cry closed to the world. The two words made his mind go on a long journey of his past which he did not want to remember at the moment. Shaking his head the small smile he had once worn turned down a bit as he rubbed the back of his neck," There's nothing interesting about one as lost as I am, though if you are calling me that it means one of two things. Either you are a lost one as well, or you are just like me. Either way...What pray tell would you want with my company?," the red eyes only opened to stare at the young girl for a moment almost expecting an unsatisfactory answer. How content was he sleeping with people. The mere question made him laugh for a moment before slipping his hands into his pockets," Money is money and for what I can offer a mere human who cannot keep their promises to their spouses, its fun. Though its a job I do not love, it is one that I only keep due to needing board. Circumstances?," he paused for a moment thinking only on the reason he was here to begin with," I am not satisfied with, but it beats being locked away only to become a memory to my supposed family....Why do you care to question a stranger, who are you?," the main question on his mind at the moment. Why had some child who had carried an air of adult mentality and danger be asking about him? Do you feel my heart beating?

Elsie had chosen to answer all of his questions only after he answered hers. She was the greater here after all, surely. Did she want him to know that? No, not at this time. Not yet anyway. There was a season for everything and these leaves had not yet turned a vibrant red from its green hue. The little girl had listened with a patience only one hundred plus years could gift. Her observant eyes watched as his smile faltered. "There's nothing interesting about one as lost as I am ...."
"I am not satisfied ...."
"it beats being locked away ...." These answers. They were words that she had heard varying paraphrases of. Yet another Lost One ... Elsie's childish demeanor recharged itself as she gave a cutesy smile with a delicate tilt of the head. "You can call me anything you'd like, honestly." Her mary janed feet began swinging again in a well performed excitement. "All I ask," She'd begin, tapping a finger upon her chin playfully, "is that you don't call me any bad words. Because that would be rude~"The child would giggle in a flurry of girly kicks before settling back down to a more relaxed tempo of swaying her feet again. "However I think you're wanting the answer to "what" I am rather than "who" I am." She'd say, speaking with her hands illustrating her words in an adorable fashion. "So allow me, ahem." The little girl would clear her throat before continuing. "I ..." The pause was placed there for the child-like mask to yet again be lowered. It was habit to act that way, but when she spoke variations of the following words, she preferred to be serious to ensure the listener that they can be sure of her premises. The act dropped, Elsie crossed her legs in a business fashion and folded her hands upon her lap. Her words now were not spoken in any childish manner but similar to a stern professor teaching in a lecture hall. "I was once a Lost One like you." Admits, keeping eye contact with the young man before her. "All of us were at some point. I. I am a member of a group. A large group." Elsie would smile at this point, not in the innocent act she had been thus far, but in a knowing fashion. "Contrary to what you said earlier, it is those that are lost that we seek out purposefully and offer protection under our name. Those are the ones that offer the most promise I've found.""Your race, our race, is not one to be hidden or locked away for the sake of lesser beings." Elsie's strangely mixed and uniquely warped European accent began to seep through as she continued. Austrian being the most prominent amongst French, Irish, British and Italian clippings of words. "You are the improvement. The step above humanity in evolution." The smile would deepen as she would lean forward from her seat, "Would it be too forward of me to ask if you were interested in finally finding a home?" |

Close your eyes give me your hand "Might want to watch watch you give me the ability to do missy, you might regret it further down the line. For now little one will do until you tell me your name...or until the fact that I can trust you," him trusting others was hard considering the past even to the point where he half trusted his own brothers. There was a slight chuckle that came from him as he shook his head and shifted his position on the wall, undoing the tie he had been wearing to show bits of the tattoo's on his neck," Rude coming from someone that looks like a child but speaks like someone well over their looks. You know many people would think something about this, but given the world we live in...I doubt its an issue to you now is it?," his red eyes closed only for a moment as he sighed. As she finally went into answering the question that had been so daftly put by him, he couldn't help but rub the side of his neck as it all made since to him now. The wound that had given him new life had been all the answer he needed for the moment and yet he wanted to hear more. His eyes opened to keep track of hers as she went into depth, his mind thinking back to his father talking about something similar though the bastard was more concerned with other things to explain vampire etiquette to him. Those words stung the ears of Athrun the most, protection...group. He was once given protection and was soon after imprisoned for enacting revenge on the family he had once lost. Hearing those words made him feel more distant now that ever, the sweet words of the entity in front of him only proved to bring forth a side of him that was better off dead. The crimson hues closed as he silently laughed before bringing himself to shake his head," A home? My dear how i've heard those words before and became locked away by the same family that had given me this life. Ever since then I have never believed those words....The same words you are spewing to me now. So tell me what guarantee do I have from you that you wouldn't just promise me milk and honey just to give me poison? What are you giving me that hasn't been said before," it was as if he was pressuring for an answer, something he had no longer heard from those in this word. Do you feel my heart beating?

Elsie listened with a well earned patience. It was good he was cautious. Kid had a good head on his shoulders. Caution that was born from wounds she could only guess from his words. Wither those scars were the ones she could visibly see or wounds of another emotional nature she could not be sure. But regardless, she listened. She analyzed. She thought.
There it was again. That mention of him being locked up by a supposed family. The young man would look her way after issuing her a question of the which she would answer upon making conclusions of her own. "We do not lock up. If you were to go break one of The Six Statutes we would kill you." She'd say with a serious business stare. It wasn't a mean one, just her simply drawing out the line very clearly. She was always looking for new members, yes. But not ones that could possibly cause her Coven harm. If this young man had been locked up by a previous Coven there could be serious concerns and reasons behind such a decision. "However our statutes are enforced to protect our own member base and thus aren't broken often. With that said,"
"In a vague summary, as long as you don't harm the Coven you may do as you wish." Keeping her stare solid she would continue, "I do not know why you would be imprisoned by your "previous family". But if it was over matters concerning the well being of swine," she'd frown with a slight raise of her chin at the mention of humanity, "all is allowed. The windling down of their numbers is actually preferred." That was the only factor that she could think of that another Coven would condemn while her Coven actually took favor in.
"I don't know what you're wishing to hear from me, Lost One. As I'm guessing you've learned on your own, this world can be a deceiving and cruel one. I think I can safely assume you did not expect me to be the way I am for instance," The little girl would smile. "All I can do is say my truths. Wither you choose to believe them, or even give them a chance, is up to you. There is wisdom in accepting this."
Elsie would exhale deeply with a sense of strange peace on the subject before she'd glance at him with a different flash in her eyes. "I was planning on killing that man tonight." She'd say in a non-challant voice. "The one whom you caught me looking in on. The one that punched his romantic interest repeatedly until she stopped arguing. I was planning on feeding from him until he died." She'd state overly clearly, this practice from what she had seen of the few other American vampires she had met thus far was not common. This would be a very clear and simple way to see if they were of similar minds. "I don't normally share but I wouldn't mind making an exception if you were interested." |

Close your eyes give me your hand The only thing he could do was laugh after hearing the words leave her lips, the fact that the punishment was death over being imprisoned didn't sound too bad," So would these weaker beings be trying to kill me or you yourself? If it was by your hands maybe I could die with some relief...but anyone else and it might be a bit of an issue.. On a more serious note," stopping for a moment he looks back up to the window and sighs,"You won't have any issues with me providing none in your coven try and look down on me, that is something I will never forgive anyone of doing," as he was pretty much agreeing to join her coven for the moment, he thought about what he father and brothers would think of him leaving the Valentine family for this. The thought of making the old man furious with anger caused a smile to appear on his face until the question of what would he have done to be imprisoned came up. The smile soon disappeared as he pulled a lighter from his pocket and flicked it once before looking towards Elise," When one finds the murderers of his family committing the same acts as they had done on his family...They lose sense of who they are and want nothing more than the end of said people. That was me, I killed them and drained them off all of their blood and enjoyed every minute of it yet my father saw it differently. In a nutshell my choice for revenge got me punished and imprisoned for a little over...was it thirty years? I don't remember after being down there for so long, but it had been a while," the whole ordeal played in his head as if he had been reliving it, each moment of being locked without food or the gratification of someone seeing him had been...rough. The ideals between the woman in front of him and his father weighed differently, the preservation of food and the secrecy of the family over the will do what is felt to humans made the decision much easier to make. The offer was decided on that as he offered his right hand towards her," Well it would seem you have yourself a member. Though it will take me some time to get accustomed to your..rules and the others i am sure we will have a grand time with each other ne?," of course if she didn't shake his hand he would still accept none the less. The offer to feed on the male that had been beating his wife sounded too good. Of course he there were a few things that he did not accept and that was the abuse of women even if they were human or not. Either it was his line of work or his borderline morals, but it was unforgivable none the less. So as he leaned away from the wall he simply walked over towards the apartment only to look at her," Which way are you going in? Window or door...no either way is fine I guess, but leave the woman to me okay?," a smile creeping up on his face as he waits for the answer of his new master. Do you feel my heart beating?
