okay so the manic episode was over. it was a relief, a weight off his shoulders (and probably zeph's too.) there were several cans of coffee on the ground, entirely empty and shy cringed at the thought of having straight eaten so much of the instant caffeine. on the bright side he had the next 2 weeks worth of homework done and he managed to fill an entire sketchbook of zeph anatomy studies, which was mostly just drawing zeph sleeping.
as weird as it was it was pretty good practice. shy had finally managed to crash the night before while watching oculus, sleeping well into the morning and missing the first 2 classes of the day. however with the small pink note he had on his dresser basically excusing him (because his grades were pretty decent) he didn't feel the need to be rushing about anywhere.
pulling on tight dark jeans and a white tshirt he shoved on flats and walked out of the room, tucking his wallet into his back pocket. ♡

"And here I thought everyone would be in class like good little students," offered an amused chuckle from the otherwise silent hallway, "Is it too much to ask for a few hours of decent sleep?" Hair with a brilliant poppy hue was the only splash of color within Matthew's sight. It was a man. One singular man covered by no more than a pair of tattered jeans and some ink. He casually leaned against a wall and took a drag of his cigarette. Eyes, the color and nature of which Shy wouldn't be able to remember, give the dark haired boy a long look-over. "So do you want to explain to me why all the door frames have mirrors in them? What gives?" He gave Shy a questioning look, as if he should know all the answers to his own unconscious mind.

he was a bit surprised, not having expected anyone to be roaming the dorm halls. he blinked, looking around to make sure the guy was talking to him before glancing back. he felt something akin to a shiver run down his spine, but just attributed it to nicotine withdrawal. he hadn't smoked in a couple hours and the itch in his lungs was now starting to make itself known. avoiding looking at the state of undress the guy was in because he was ace he was so ace it was crazy he licked his lips.
"no clue. you got a smoke i can steal?" he asked, walking closer. shy took the time to glance at the doorways, curiously wondering when this had happened. "why are they like funhouse mirrors though?" he wondered aloud, walking closer and touching the cool surface.
"you been in the hall long? see anyone go?" really now he just wanted to go back to his room. ♡

"This one's all I showed up with, but you're welcome to it," said the bright-haired male, extending his arm to offer the cigarette, white smoke gently rising, "Lord knows it won't do me any good now anyway." The ginger just smirked at the questions thrown his way. "You'd know better than me; I got here the same time you did, but I'm just visiting." From the corner of their eyes, each would be able to see movement in the reflective surfaces. Shadows. Flickers. Malicious gazes from looming faces vanishing after a swift moment. "Oh fuck this," the stranger huffed, unceremoniously dropping the cigarette (if it not already been taken), "Alright, no, I already don't like which direction this is going--" Before he could complete his thought, a feminine shriek forced its way down the hallway, shattering many of the mirrors in an explosive fashion. Shards sliced through the air and the shadowy movements slipped from their glassy prisons. The ginger quickly wrapped himself around the shorter male, toned chest pressed firmly against his back, to shield him from the reflective blades. Their closeness allowed the man to audibly whisper. "I'm not usually so forward about this... but you really need to wake up."

shy's lips parted as he stared at the guy suspiciously. what did he mean he was a visitor? he glanced back at the mirrors, jumping back at the shadows dancing along the edge. things were getting weird and he wasn't happy about it.
"what do you mean i'd know better? what the hell is going on?" his voice quavered, not bothering to hide his anxiety regarding the situation. his jaw clenched a bit as the butt dropped, but before he could comment he doubled over with his hands over his ears, trying to block out that deafening shriek. he shook, breath catching in his throat feeling the warm body against him.
a tingle ran up his spine again and there was a flush creeping up his neck, but he didn't focus on it. admittedly he may have shivered at the closeness between them. "w-what do you mean wake up? i'm awake aren't i?" he turned his face, jumping a bit at how close they were. his eyes widened and lips parted in surprise, his cheeks coloring pink. there was no way this was real.
"oh god i'm doing that weird thing again aren't i? what the hell is happening." ♡

The stranger's body stiffened as it was hit by glass, causing his grip to tighten around Shy. Red cuts to match red hair decorated his flesh. A sharp inhale was followed by a pause upon hearing the boy's words. "That weird thing..?" The ginger grabbed Shy's shoulders and forced the other male to look at him. The face which had been so casual and certain just a few moments ago was now touched by an intense doubt. "What weird thing? When people are asleep do you... can you see what they dream abou--?" The stranger's frantic questions were interrupted as his gaze was drawn away. The dark movements in the mirrors were no longer confined to just the mirrors anymore. "We need to go." Without asking for permission, he roughly grabbed Shy's arm and began to pull him down the hall, away from the streams of shadow slipping from the cracks in the glass. "I thought this was your nightmare," the stranger tried to explain as he ran, "Fuck... I don't even know about that now." He appeared genuinely concerned about the alternative, whatever that was.
