i am a [SEVENTY] year old [MALE] [SUBORDINATE VAMPIRE]. i am currently a [WORLD LITERATURE TEACHER]. i am [DEMISEXUAL]. a lot of people tend to call me [BY MY FIRST NAME].
PERSONAL
▼
[ABILITIES]
• abstain: may go twice as long without feeding or developing bloodlust
• blood regeneration: feeding will now allow the individual to heal faster
[PERSONALITY]
Silas is a man of bittersweet candor. He always tells the truth, even if it may be hurtful. After all, there's no sense in beating around the bush, right? If he does or does not like something, he will be the first to say it. Just forgive him if he seems too outspoken, he is just being genuine with his thoughts and feelings, which goes hand in hand is his loyal nature. He will stick by anyone no matter what the outcome. Silas takes the side of those he has grown attached to, even if they may be in the wrong. It is just his nature. He cares far too much for his friends and loved ones to leave them in the dust. If people are willing enough to act as a friend, he will return the favor without another thought. In simple terms, he is the best person to go to, no matter what the issue may be, as he will approach the subject with an open mind.
He often finds himself making a strong effort to put the utmost thought into something. Silas is quite intelligent, attempting to find both the pros and cons of an idea before carrying it out. Sometimes he puts too much thought into things and often finds himself overthinking, often missing his opportunity. He has always been the type to believe that if one loves something, they must set it free. His mindset is often one of logic, but it may not be the best approach. He is always willing to try things that might seem rather unorthodox. It's just that he feels that perhaps trying it a different way than most would expect will pay off in the end. As far as his overall stance goes, he's a pacifist and prefers to solve things verbally. This can often be a problem for people who aren't that great at thinking on their feet but fortunately he's patient enough.
Silas does not mind taking the lead when it comes to work, but it is said to watch out. It's not uncommon for this man to become quite domineering when he takes the lead, wanting everything to go a certain way. He wants nothing more than everything to run fluidly. Perhaps his just his perfectionist ways, but he wants everything to turn out flawless in the end. Can you blame him though? It would become utterly tedious to do something until one got it right over and over again. Some don't mind him taking the lead when it comes to things though, as he's reliable in the aspect of covering every possible point. But he's not one for doing the entire thing himself. Silas believes strongly in people working together to reach a goal. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, as he likes to think. All in all though, he's a simple man with older tastes that does what he can to please those around him.

The looks

[APPEARANCE]
Like most vampires, Silas has been gifted with an overall aesthetically pleasing appearance, forever frozen in time at the appearance age of twenty-two. While his skin is pale and ice cold, it also lacks any sort of flaw. And for the most part, he doesn't have to worry about shaving. That's a plus, right? While he doesn't care much for being pricked by needles or the like, he did have his ears pierced. Just two onyx ball stud earrings, nothing too impressive. As far as facial features go, his features remain fairly soft. A face framed by short, silver locks with a firm jawline, small turn-up fashioned nose, full lips usually curled into a smile, and a half-lidded albeit kind stare. His vision is about 20/20, giving him considerably perfect vision. Silas' eyes are a light blue, almost close to a teal shade. Despite his overall appearance, his eyes seem almost exhausted. It's fair to say he doesn't get a whole lot of sleep.
Silas' overall body type is tall yet slender. He's about 5'11" in height, considerably average for the overall populace. As for his weight, it's about 150 pounds at most. He's truly not all that heavy. But don't excuse that lightweight appearance for a weakness. Sure, he's not as strong as other vampires could be, but he's still got some strength in him, nonetheless. His body fairly toned though, but nothing too impressive.
His clothing style is professional, even on days off. And boy, are his tastes expensive. School days are met with an overall sleek outfit. Usually a white dress shirt and some sort of tie. A black vest is optional on some days fitted with a silver pocketwatch chain dangling from the side pocket. As for pants, he usually sports either black or tan trousers and a black leather belt. On his days off, Silas happily sports a dress shirt and sweater vest combo and the same pants he wears any other day. For footwear, on any occasion, he often wears Italian designer brand leather shoes. Who says you can't treat yourself to a lovely wardrobe, after all?

THE PAST

[HISTORY]
His mother, a young Polish woman, had fled the country just before Germany had made its advance. Smuggled into New York, she attempted to make her way up from scratch. Fortunately she was successful. In the midst of all her work to actually be able to stand on her own feet in New York, she had met a young journalist a few years later and the two had fallen in love, marrying a year later. It was a small ceremony, but a happy one nevertheless. They had one child throughout their marriage, a son they named Silas. He was an obedient child, not one to whine unless it was necessary. His parents used to jokingly say that they almost didn't even notice he was around. Overall his family was small but most certainly happy being around one another. Their relationship was rather healthy, only met with a few bumps here and there but it just brought them closer.
Silas was a curious young boy, always getting into his father's books and asking to be read stories. His favorites were the apparently fictional stories of monsters. Vampires, werewolves, angels, demons... Most of them were treated as the villains. Often times he found himself questioning if maybe there were good creatures and bad angels. It could be likely, right? After all there were good people and bad people, so what would make supernatural beings any different? It was rather insightful for someone his age but perhaps it was his innocent mindset that didn't allow him to think that perhaps it was just a stereotype. Besides, those things weren't real, right?
Unfortunately he couldn't have been anymore wrong. There had been incidents in which people were found dead from inexplicable means. Most of the time the deaths were just ruled out as being attacked by a wild animal. But what kind of wild animal would suck all the blood out of a person? As curious as ever, Silas chose to investigate the area where most of the attacks had occurred. It was a big mistake on his end. Sure, he was around nineteen at this point and capable of handling himself if it was an animal but... Well the problem is it actually wasn't. Those stories of vampires and the like were real. But he didn't get the chance to divulge that information to anyone. In fact, for about three weeks, he was considered missing. At least until he had found himself in front of his parents' house.
They were relieved to see that he'd come back unharmed. But his overall disposition was a little off. He was cold to the touch, paler than usual, and found a strange almost insatiable desire to drink blood. It was almost like some sort of sickness. With that, the boy knew he'd never be able to tell his parents exactly what he saw in those three weeks and what had happened. He didn't want to worry his parents too much though, so he chose to isolate himself. Silas was in shambles, unsure of what to think of himself now. It wasn't until during one of his nights out that he had actually attacked someone. And goodness, did he make a mess. Fate had something in store for him, and he was met with a vampire who was in far more control than Silas was. And while she offered to help him learn control, he was in no position to decline.
His days were spent inside, keeping his parents at ease. Then nights were spent with the woman he had come across. She was an excellent teacher, conditioning him with a strong sense of control. And in the meantime, he had learned to drink blood from animals to at least lessen his need for human blood, as he had no wish to bring people harm. For the most part though, he attempted to avoid going out into the sun, as he knew what would happen if he did. Nevertheless, Silas gave himself a rather convincing cover, and fortunately for him he had aged a little physically, at least enough to keep his parents' curiosity at bay. But eventually the both of them died from old age, his father going first, then his mother. They went peacefully, so it wasn't too heartbreaking.
Nothing too exciting from there happened with his life. He went with the days as they came, attending night classes to major in English. Once that wrapped up, well, he stayed at home for the most part. But he kept himself occupied with books and other things. Being inside wasn't too bad for him, in all honesty. In fact, he thoroughly enjoyed it. But night time was when things were far more busy and exciting. There were plenty of creatures around, but with that came dangers too. Hunters were of major concern, but as long as trouble was avoided, there was no worry.
Silas needed to put his work to some use though. And about ten years ago, he stumbled across the academy. It seemed silly to worry about troubles that humans could bring but... Nevertheless, he was still a little anxious. So he submitted his resumé and could only hope for the best. He finally did get word back and he was accepted as a temporary teacher. But with his work and teachings, they decided to keep him as part of the faculty, which was kind of refreshing in itself. He hasn't been there as long as some teachers but he's certainly never felt safer.
