VAMPIRES Vampires are a race which has taken pop culture by storm. They're portrayed in everything from romantic novels to horror movies, but their abilities are rarely portrayed accurately. They are a diseased people who must regularly consume the blood of humans or other non-werewolf humanoids to survive. Their saliva has a mild drug-like, sedative effect when leaked into their prey's bloodstream to make them more relaxed. If they do not eat enough they will begin to develop a crazed bloodlust where they will try to gorge themselves in blood. They, too, have bodily functions keeping them alive; their normal body temperature is lower than a human's and they're made of sturdier stuff, but they certainly aren't just walking corpses. They are severely burned by sunlight and physical contact with holy symbols, but have superior senses which allow them to hunt well at night. Vampires are completely infertile, so all vampires were once human. High-ranked carriers increase their numbers, intentionally or not, by turning humans via consuming each other's blood. Once turned, they will cease natural aging. VAMPIRE RANKS All vampires have a set rank which is determined by the magnitude of the disease's effect on the individual's body. It is a physical difference which is often realized immediately, but may be developed after a long period of time. This difference can be sensed by those with superior scent. Over time, each rank has been given a different job or position within the society of a vampire coven, though not all high-ranked vampires chose to abide by this social structure. The ranks below are in order from the highest to lowest in terms of both disease strength and coven social status. PUREBLOOD A pureblood is the highest rank in vampire society. Most of them were turned well over a millennia ago, when most vampires had the ability to turn mortals. However, despite what many vampire nobles would have you believe, there are some who have cropped up randomly in more recent centuries. They possess a great wealth of traditional knowledge, experience, and a powerful reputation within their society. They control the activities and members within their coven -- if they choose to form one -- and have the duty of protecting anyone in their coven. Purebloods have the ability to change a human into a vampire through their bite. They may also command anyone they've turned and anyone in their coven to do whatever they ask, whether by choice or otherwise. EXTRA POWERS• pureblood authority: possessing absolute command over subordinate coven members and non-nobles whom they've turned • pure carrier: the ability to turn humans into vampires and the ability to turn subordinates into aristocrats APPLYINGTo apply for a pureblood you must fill out a try out form and the staff will look over it before you can make an application. Covens and high-ranking vampire positions can be found here. ARISTOCRAT An aristocrat is the right hand to the pureblood in a vampire coven. Historically, they were trained to act as nobles, to serve their pureblood to the best of their ability, and to keep normal vampires under the pureblood's authority. They have some authority over subordinate vampires in their coven or who they've turned. Aristocrats are not created upon turning into a vampire. They are changed from a subordinate into an aristocrat by a pureblood through a long, arduous process of blood exchanges. EXTRA POWERS• noble authority - possessing strong command over their coven members and those whom they've turned • noble carrier - the ability to turn humans into vampires APPLYINGTo apply for a pureblood you must fill out a try out form and the staff will look over it before you can make an application. Covens and high-ranking vampire positions can be found here. SUBORDINATE A subordinate is a normal vampire. They have normal abilities and nothing especially unique in terms of rank. They may be in a coven -- either willingly or not -- under the command of a pureblood. They are the backbone of the coven even if they have no extra abilities.
EXTRA POWERS • none
APPLYING There is no need to fill out a tryout form - these are made as any normal character. |
