BLOW A KISS, FIRE A GUNAll we need is someone to lean on The heavy smell of chlorine was anything but attractive to the senses. The smell alone was like a repetitive verbal slap to the face that could almost be considered abuse. The heat inside the room though was perfectly fine and enjoyable but that was the only thing that could be considered as such. He was at least pleased to see that he was the only one around the pool and not a single soul was within the that nasty thing called, water.
He couldn't rightly understand why people like to submerge themselves into the cold liquid. Didn't it bother them? Were they not afraid of that horrible thing filling their lungs like a slow and suffocating death. What was so good about water? Iriel had enough trouble standing it long enough to take a shower as it was and just the mere thought of slipping into the water below sounded like torture. Still, the teenager sat at the edge of the pool still fully dressed in his everyday attire. His like capri's clung to his form in a welcome manner and his loose long white blouse with a cute little bow on the side made him feel rather good and the dark light scarf around his neck made him feel secure.
He had no intentions of changing and getting into the pool. He was merely hunched over on his heels and staring into the depths below. He cocked his head to the right and wasn't at all bothered when his long bangs fell in front of his face. If he was looking for answers below he wasn't finding them. Even when he lowered his index finger into the water he didn't see what was so alluring about the pool.
As soon as his finger hit the water he pulled it back with a frown. Shaking the water off he looked at his finger less gloved hand with a pout. The water bothered him just slightly but it was nothing more then a discomfort and now his poor finger was chilled. Still, the curiosity was there and he lowered his hand fingers, knuckle deep, into the water and created small quakes and circles with slight motions.
Yeah, no. This wasn't fun at all. Yet he would always see other students having a blast in the pool with floaty devices, beach balls, and water guns. "Hmmmm." he sighed softly. | WORDS | xxx. | TAG | @xxx. | NOTES | xxx. | MUSIC | xxx.

Could you say goodbye to yesterday? Today was actually fairly warm. Though Erin didn't actually care too much for swimming, it would have at least been nice to dip her feet in the water, she decided that morning. No classes today and a day off at the Cafe really gave her not much to occupy her time. Ashton was...wherever it was Ashton went lately, and if there was any trouble, she'd trust him to call her, find some way to signal her. But she was probably fretting far too much, there was no way anything would happen to him just because she had let him out of her sight. She had been working on it for a long time. Getting herself to allow Ashton to go off on his own, after all, he wasn't a kit anymore.
Still, things weren't exactly safe, and it worried her sometimes that he might find himself in a tight spot. But she was probably thinking on it too much. Crimson orbs shifted to the pool. There weren't many people here...actually, it was fairly desolate. She was sure it wasn't closed as most of the time it was swim at your own risk, but maybe the pool wasn't as popular at this time of day. She didn't exactly know as she didn't really participate in these kinds of things often.
And though she was headed to the pool, she was still in normal attire. But the capri pants were something she didn't usually wear, no one really had time to roll up the legs of jeans. She hardly noticed the other person as she sat at the pools edge and slipped her feet into the water. It was when little droplets hit the bigger body of water that she looked up, noticing the other being standing there. How long he had truly been there she didn't know, maybe even longer than her. She noticed he looked a little troubled...like he was trying to figure something out. She let her legs swirl in the water a bit. "Is there something wrong?" She asked after clearing her throat. What else were you supposed to do in that situation.

BLOW A KISS, FIRE A GUNAll we need is someone to lean on Iriel was just uncertain about the matter at hand and it showed. His fingers lightly teased the water like an inexperience lover. Lightly, he chewed on one of his snake bites and made a sound of discomfort. He debated about just shoving his hand into the water or a leg but decided against it. Figuring he might as well camp out here for a little bit he sat down on the edge of the pool with his legs under him. His attention was soon pulled away at the sound of someone entering the area.
He sat quietly and watched the female come over and take a seat near by. Slowly, he raised a brow when she put her legs into the water. Black on red eyes looked the girl up and down, carefully judging her expression and body language. She didn't look uncomfortable with the water around her lower limbs. Hmm, that was different. Shifting lightly in his sitting position he rested his chin in the palm of his hands and watched quietly. Any on looker would probably think Iriel was some kind of creeper or possibly on something.
But he was perfectly clean though a bit abnormal. Finally, the girl took notice of him and he instantly locked eyes with her, unblinking. "Hm?" He seemed to snap out of a trans and blinked a few times but did not answer her question. Instead, he threw his own question back at her. "Why are you doing that?" He said with a small gesture towards her legs. "Isn't it bothersome?"
It hadn't occurred to him that she might be of a different race or actually enjoyed water. Still, he was curious on what she would say on the matter. Now, the black phoenix just stared at the girl with a look of pure curiosity and expectations. Idly, he scratched the side of his face with his index finger. After a moment passed he spoke once again to the young woman. "What does it feel like?"
He turned his gaze back to the water and looked down into the pool, staring at her legs and the white letters below that marked the depth. it was like he was hoping to see something emerge from the pool but that would just be silly, now wouldn't it? | WORDS | xxx. | TAG | @xxx. | NOTES | xxx. | MUSIC | xxx.

Could you say goodbye to yesterday? Curiosity, as it went, never killed foxes. Then again, maybe there had been a stupid fox or two that the saying missed. Erin didn't normally reach out and start conversation. Not unless she knew someone. Sure, this had just been a question, but at the same time she wondered why she had bothered to ask. Red eyes closed for a moment as she was answered by the man just across the pool. Her legs continued to swirl within the clear chlorine tainted water below her. That was always the one thing she didn't like about pools. The scent of the chemical permeated every crevice of her sense of smell. When she actually chose to swim, she liked much more the natural bodies of water, untreated ones.
The swirling stopped upon his question, and she lightly gripped the edge of the pool in thought. "...It's a little warmer than it's been today." She answered. "So I'm cooling down a little bit." She answered coolly, without much of a second thought to her answer. Red eyes flashed once again with curiosity when he asked if the water was at all bothersome. "No, not really." She swirled the water around her ankles again. If he wanted to know, why didn't he just try it for himself. Was he some sort of neko?
She kept herself from squinting at him. But could a guy like that really have a fluffy pair of cat ears? Probably not. So something else, perhaps. She however, did not at the moment care enough to ask him what he was. So instead she turned her attention to his next question. "It feels...refreshing." A pool was a lot better than the Hudson River after all. Who knew what the hell was in that water. Probably radioactive, probably. But since he seemed so wary around water, she wouldn't mention that. Probably.
"Why don't you try it for yourself?" She asked. She wasn't going to force him too, of course, but she was sort of wondering why he seemed so...offset about the water. What was he? Of course, there were humans around here, and she constantly had to remind herself that was true. But humans never seemed that wary of the water. They had in fact come up with artificial means to enjoy it such as pools, hadn't they?

BLOW A KISS, FIRE A GUNAll we need is someone to lean on Silence filled the air for a good while it seemed while Iriel continued to merely stare at the legs in the water. Slowly, his head tilted to the other side while he processed the information that was being told to him. She was right, it had been warmer today but Iriel didn't mind the heat so much. He actually liked it quite a bit but it seemed others did not share his love of hot weather. Well, everyone was different and it took all kinds to make the world. Or, well, that was what his fathers often told him. "Not really?" He repeated her words as if they where foreign to him.
"It doesn't bother you in the slightest then?" Was she human or something other then what he was? He had very little experience in dealing with other supernatural beings. He was raised by two human fathers in a very human world. It wasn't until last year that he was enrolled in this school. Even though it had people like him here he still didn't quite fit in like his parents had hoped he would. He was still very different and equally strange with his thought process.
A small smile graced his features while he took it in. He even chuckled softly with a shake of his head. Nah, he would rather not slip his legs into the cold water below. It might be refreshing for some but for him it was nothing more then a skin irritation. "Hmm, I rather not. I don't get along well with water and water doesn't like me most of the time." He replied softly with a bit of cheer in his voice. "And the smell isn't very appealing either." Iriel chuckled and returned his gaze back to the water.
Silence floated between the two once more for a good minute if not a bit more before Iriel spoke again to the young lady. "Why do people like water so much?" He inquired while idly poking the water once more with his index finger only to pull it back with an annoyed expression. "Is there something special about it?" He waited once again before adding in, "Like, for example, does it contain some kind of awesome property that I never knew about? I know my eldest father loved to spend hours in the bath. I always thought he was crazy because he came out looking like a prune." | WORDS | xxx. | TAG | @xxx. | NOTES | xxx. | MUSIC | xxx.

Could you say goodbye to yesterday? Erin swirled her legs in the water again as she listened to the man speak, asking her if it bothered her in the slightest. Of course, the Chlorine smell was never the best thing, but it was a small price to pay for relaxation to most people. Some even liked the smell, even if it burned at her nostrils. She supposed it was just different since she had a keener sense of smell than most that spent their time down at the pool. "No, not really. Can't stay in for too long because otherwise it makes me feel a little sick." But that was coming back to the smell.
She watched as he considered her suggestion, but he didn't look to keen on it, lightly refusing seconds later. She smirked when he mentioned the smell. "Tell me about it. But that's the Chlorine, and that smell never goes away with artificial structures like this. It's how they keep it clean and so...unusually blue." She explained, though he probably already knew that. "Sometimes I don't know why I stay out here as long as I do."
Red eyes flickered to him upon his next questions. Why did people like water so much? Well, it helped that most beings were 75% water. She sighed. Humans were somewhat of a mystery to her. Some of the things they did was ridiculous, But she herself didn't think building pools was one of them.
"Who knows? I guess it's because summer is too hot for most people. And then for people who just like to swim, there are indoor pools." She said, leaning back a bit. She listened to what he was saying, nodding. "I wouldn't want to be in this water for that long. But as for why...I think it just helps some people with stress, something to get their mind off it." She looked at him. "Take it you aren't a swimmer?"

BLOW A KISS, FIRE A GUNAll we need is someone to lean on Iriel nodded softly to her words and idly poked the water for a final time before allowing his hands to rest, folded, in his lap. Now, the young man put his full attention to the lady across from him. It was nice to know he wasn't the only one that got a bit on the ill side if left in the water for too long. He wasn't sure if she was meaning the awful smell or for being in the water itself. "So do I. It makes me feel pretty bad."
So bad, that his normal bathing times last between two to three minutes and no more. He was in just long enough to be qualified as clean and then out smelling like roses. He laughed lightly at the girl in agreence. "The smell is rather disgusting. It doesn't go away, like you said, and it clings to the hair in the worst possible way. You would think there would be better ways to keep the water clean...and...cool-aid blue."
Hesitantly, he looked at the water and cringed lightly at it. The water really did look pretty unnatural. Iriel hadn't a clue why he himself was camping out in here. Maybe it was just normal curiosity of him trying to understand things that was beyond him.
Once again, he nodded in understanding but that nod stopped half way when his unnatural eyes widdened in surprise. He? A swimmer, oh no, never. The look decreased from surprise to amusement in matter of moments. Smiling brightly his hands took hold of his ankles while he leaned back. "Hah, you're right. I think I would qualify as a sinker rather then a swimmer." He could help but chuckle at his own words. The eighteen year old didn't know how to swim nor did he have the will to learn such a skill.
He would rather chill out on the land and observe people. That was more appealing to him then joining them in the torturous waters that wasn't a fan of fire. "What about you? Are you a swimmer or a sinker?" | WORDS | xxx. | TAG | @xxx. | NOTES | xxx. | MUSIC | xxx.

Could you say goodbye to yesterday? Water made him feel sick? The options of what he could be began diminishing in her head, But instead of asking, she pursed her lips before looking down at the water. Indeed, it was kept artificially, but that wasn't always the worst thing. God only knew how many people actually peed in these damn things. If it wasn't kept with the incredibly potent chemical, she wasn't sure if she'd even think of putting her feet in it. The swim club could have their pool, all she was looking for was a quick way to cool off. The heat wasn't her thing.
Her eyes flecked a bit. "Yeah. Chlorine isn't an easy smell to get rid of. Even when you shower it still smells like you walked into a vat of it." She responded, finally pulling her feet from the pool below. She settled them on the edge and started to towel them off, glancing side wards at him as he continued speaking. She didn't know why she was still here, if she was being honest, she wasn't sure why she was still here talking to him. She was hungry.
"Me? I swim, but only usually out of the need too." She mentioned, patting her legs lightly with the towel before reaching to place her shoes back on. "If you can't swim you can always try a raft. Then again it could always capsize and you can always end up in the water anyway..." Okay, so maybe keeping the repercussions to herself wasn't always easy. She realized she had said it, but she decided to pay it no mind.
"So, I take it you go here, what's your name?" She asked, leaning back though she wasn't quite ready to get up despite finishing her soak. Letting her younger brother be independent, also meant she'd need to start talking to people. She needed to fill that void sometime.

BLOW A KISS, FIRE A GUNAll we need is someone to lean on A small thoughtful sound came from his lips until finally he was completely bored with the water ideas. Slowly, he shrugged his shoulders at her. "And that is why I do not swim." Well, one of many reasons why he didn't swim and he had a lot of reasons too. But the smell was up there in the top three reasons.
He stared at her in surprise and confusion for a good moment. Build a raft? That seemed frightening beyond belief! Why would anyone want to float on the water let alone go rafting? The mere idea sent shivers down his spine and not in a good way at all. "That...That is something I would rather not do. I would sink either way and then that wouldn't be fun at all. Drowning is one of the worst ways to go. I saw some horrible drowning scenes in a horror movie once. I couldn't sleep for a week." Not to mention it took all his will power to take a shower after seeing that! What if he fell in the shower and drowned somehow? How horrible would that be! Bird found dead in shower, yeah not the way he wanted to go out!
Shaking the thoughts out of his mind he was more then happy to get on a new subject, his name. "I do go here. I'm Iriel and what would your name be, nice lady?" He asked with a small smile on his face and took great care to scoot a little further away from the edge of the pool. Now, he was a bit fearful that he might accidentally fall in or worse. Iriel was not in the mood to take that kind of chance.
"And do you come here often?" It wasn't so much a pick up line or him even hitting on her really. It was mostly a tease and also because he wanted to know if she really did come here. So far, he enjoyed talking to her and he really didn't talk to a lot of people around the school.

Could you say goodbye to yesterday? So he didn't swim often. Neither did she, so it worked out. She crossed her legs together as she listened. He didn't seem like a bad guy, didn't really fit that type, she decided as she observed his expressions while he spoke. Her red eyes were usually piercing, but right now she was relaxed, as were they. He seemed to think she had meant more than she did, as she was talking about one of those rubber pool rafts.
She exhaled softly in amusement when he mentioned not being able to sleep for a week after seeing horror movies where the character drowned. They were all just stories to her, these movies. Stretching, she looked at him curiously. "That seems like an annoyingly long time to be awake over water." She responded. Then again, she had nightmares that would have seemed silly to others too, so she wasn't in a place to judge it. Instead, she focused on his words.
Ignoring the first words of his sentence, Aside from his name, she shrugged. "I'm Erin." She answered almost automatically. She shook her head when he asked if she came here often. "No, only when its too hot for me to stand and showers don't help. For some reason being here a few minutes helps me out." She answered afterwards. She hadn't seemed to take hit for getting hit on, so it was fine. "I was kind of wondering why you were here, since you seem to dislike water so much." She mentioned, looking towards the artificially kept sea of water.

BLOW A KISS, FIRE A GUNAll we need is someone to lean on "Well, nice to meet you Erin." With the smile still on his face he couldn't help but be amused with her words. Water, it was really such a silly fear. It couldn't hurt you, it couldn't cut nor could it kill if you where careful around it. It was all pretty harmless but the moment you fucked up, you would be dead. Or at least for a Phoenix you would go out like a light. It was sad really when you thought about it this way.
"It probably is but water doesn't settle well with me and I'm not sure if others like me share the distaste." He shrugged lightly. He really didn't know as he hadn't made it a habit to go around to find others like him and ask their opinion about water. "Well," he started. "regardless, I'm glad it makes you feel better. That is one thing good about water it has a calming effect on most people." Iriel pushed himself into a standing position and streched out his limbs. Cracking his fingers over head he walked around the pool. He carefully made his way around to be on the same side of the pool as Erin.
"Oh, me? Well, to be honest I was just wanting to look at it and try to understand it better. Because I never go into a pool I wanted to know what it felt like and what made it so great. You know, kinda like peering over the fence to see if the grass really was greener on the other side?" Once he reached the kitsune he ploped down to set next to her, keeping his hands to himself.
"In this case, it wasn't. It is still very brown and gross looking grass." he snickered, finding it very amusing. "But, beyond all of that...what year are you? Pardon me, I'm just not very good with names or faces a lot of the time. I am sure I might of seen you around but I can't remember."
Admitting that to her made him scratch the side of his head in shame. He hated that his memory was shit but there was very little he could do about it. | WORDS | xxx. | TAG | Neil Coyle. | NOTES | xxx. | MUSIC | xxx. MADE BY VEL OF GS

Could you say goodbye to yesterday? Erin did appreciate the fact that he was so quiet. He wasn't too loud for her ears to process. He didn't seem like the kind of guy you'd want to be caught alone in a dark alley with. Well, maybe to most people he might have been, but not her. He seemed normal enough, and she had narrowed down his species. But she still wasn't going to bother to ask because she didn't really care. She didn't have any particular problems with the other races. She had been scared of dog demons once, for a short while, but that was until she met Larse. He wasn't bad at all, and he had gotten her used to the idea of being around them. "Good to meet you as well." She answered honestly, though her voice was still flat as it had been this whole conversation.
"Well, I guess I understand where you're coming from." She said after he had given her an explanation. "But next time, I'd suggest coming here with someone you trust." Her words were honest as she stared at him evenly. "I'm not the type that would, but there are some distasteful people around here." She explained, though he could have already known that. "I could have easily been someone who would have enjoyed pushing you into the pool while you weren't paying attention." Her tone was still even, still calmed.
"You seem kind of strange..but not as strange as other people around here. I've been at this school for three years." She mentioned, showing him the count on her fingers. "Took me a while to start talking to people like i am with you. You're not bad." She leaned on one of her knees. "It's hard to get over fears, I know how you must feel about the water." Just as she felt about hunters. "But its interesting that you came out here despite that."

BLOW A KISS, FIRE A GUNAll we need is someone to lean on The bird grew silent for a long moment in thought. He even ruffled the semi shaved side of his head while he sat there with a blank experssion. Huh, it hadn't even occured to him that someone might come to him with bad intentions. He normally didn't look at anyone as bas. If someone did come to shove him into the pool it would startle him and possibly increase his fear of the water. The teenager frowned the more he thought about what could of happened if it wasn't Erin he was speaking with right now. "I see your point. It didn't occur to me that someone might try that but surely...they wouldn't...right?" Who would be cruel enough to shove a phoenix into a large container of water knowing it might hurt them?
"That wouldn't be very kind of someone...be kind of cruel really." Cruel and possibly cause him to drown which is something he never wanted to experience. Being water logged was terrible. He turned to fully face her when he was called strange. Strange? Was he really that queer to her? Hmm, well he supposed it really didn't matter one way or another. He was happy with himself and that was all that counted. "I guess that's a good thing then?" He asked slowly while he tried to debate on what it could mean.
He smiled again, "Yeah, I guess it is, isn't? I normally avoid bodies of water but today I just felt like being adventours. I'm glad it was you that stumbled upon me and not anyone else. You seem like a nice person...a bit strange as well but in a good way I would like to think. Pop's always said it takes all kinds to make the world interesting."
Pulling his knees up to his chest he sat there in silence again for a while before asking Erin a question. "So, what are you afraid of?" He wouldn't use her fear against her for any reason but he was curious if she had any crazy fears like he did with water.

Could you say goodbye to yesterday? Erin closed her eyes at that question, Surely they wouldn't, right? No. They would, if they were messed up enough, and Erin knew that not everyone in this world was kind. People didn't care about hurting people. They were rather cruel, actually. She leaned back as her eyes open again. "I don't know if anyone in this school is that messed up. But it could happen. If you're going to stand by the water's edge at least have your guard up." She said honestly. She wasn't going to put false statements into this guy's head. She didn't want him to think he was safe, and then someone went and pushed him in the water anyway.
She didn't know if she was a really nice person. She probably wasn't as nice as he thought she was. She was normally quite reserved, but when her brother started going to this school, she saw no need to have to live off campus, and they both lived here now. They both had to find themselves. She sighed. "Yeah, I am strange I suppose. But there's nothing wrong with being different. I think I'd rather choke than be the same as any of the people around here." She mentioned, sighing against her knee.
"Fears?" She asked? Hunters were the most obvious. Guns, Loud sounds were all things she either hated or was scared of. But she wasn't about to tell him that. She wasn't that open book. "I was scared of dogs when I was little." She mentioned. "But they aren't so bad anymore."

BLOW A KISS, FIRE A GUNAll we need is someone to lean on Erin had a point, this school had some great people and then some really shitty people. If he wasn't careful he could possibly find himself starting over as an infant, again. "I see what you mean." He didn't feel like regoing through the same old circle again and would do his best to stay a good ways away from the water.
He chuckled lightly at her idea of being strange and how its better to be that then normal. "Then I suppose we will get along pretty well then, hm? I think we might be strangest two in the school and I am okay with that." He offered her a gentle smile. Actually, there probably were much bigger weirdo then them but hell, who really gave a shit? If they want to be on a different werid scale then so be it! Just mean they were special.
But back to the fear business he could see how scary a dog could possibly be. They had big teeth, they could out run you and they worked in a pack. "Yeah, I could understand that fear but I do like dogs. Provided that aren't the big mean ones that wanna rip off my face." He chuckled. "Kinda like in Kujo, you know, the movie with that insane dog in it? It's a good old horror movie that I kinda like to watch sometimes. But, um, glad your not afraid of them so much anymore...erm, might not wanna watch that movie on second thought." A nervous laugh fell out as he realized how dumb he might of just been mentioning a horror film with a crazy mutt in it to a girl that didn't like dogs too much.
Good job, Iriel, good job.
